MACHUPICCHU’S INCREASE IN CAPACITY:

Previously, the entrance capacity to Machu Picchu was 4,500, and currently, it is 5,600 visitors per day. It is distributed through three circuits, including ten new routes just during the high season  until to october 15th , the Ministry of Culture  of Peru  published in the oficial newspaper the changes on May 20th 2024.

CIRCUIT 1 or PANORAMIC VIEW

  • Note: Entrance inside of the citadel of Machu Picchu is NOT ALLOWED!

The purchase this entrance ticket through the panoramic circuit would be more like a complement to the visit to Machu Picchu archeologica site to have another type of photographic perspective (traditional photo) and visit the surroundings of Machu Picchu, or in case the visitor is buying the Huayna Picchu ticket and requires the classic view of Machu Picchu from the house of the Inca watchman.

It is so named because you will have the most panoramic views of the entire Inca citadel and is divided into four routes.

Route 1-A: Machu Picchu Mountain Route

The circuit 1-A: In this part of Machu Picchu Mountain you can take the classic postcard photo of Machu Picchu from the house of the Inca watchman. offering amaizing panoramic views of the Inca citadel and its surroundings.and also you have a panaoramix view of the main INCA constructions

Machu Picchu Mountain Route: This allows you to climb the mountain if you love the trek choose this option it is in front of the Machu Picchu llaqta and you will be able to have a much wider view of the wonder.

  • Hike only to the Mountain
  • Maximum stay time: 7 hours

Circuit 1-B: Upper Terrace Route:

Its main attraction is to reach the viewpoint and have an impressive view of Machu Picchu, this circuit allows you a panoramic photo with the background of Machu Picchu.

  • Only the classic view of Machu Picchu.
  • Maximum stay time: 2 hours and 30 minutes

Circuit 1-C: Intipunku Gate Route (available only in high season)

Don’t miss it, this will give you access to INTIPUNKU, you will also have a panoramic view of the citadel, this circuit will be open to the public only for high season, since only those who do the Inca Trail Trek could visit it.

  • Only to Inti Punku Hike
  • Maximum stay time: 4 hours

Circuit 1-D: Inca Bridge Route (available only in high season)

This route allows you to get the traditional photo of Machu picchu and to know the Inca bridge, I recommend you not to miss it as the views and landscapes are spectacular.

  • Hike only to the Inka Bridge (Includes the classic view of Machu Picchu).
  • Maximum stay time: 3 hours

CIRCUIT 2 or INCA CITY

Note: The entrance ticket allows you to enter the ruins of Machu Picchu with the classic view of Machu Picchu from the Watchman’s Hut.

Circuit Route 2-A: Designed Route

This is the best route to visit and explore Machu Picchu with the classic view of Machu Picchu from the vicinity of the Watchman’s Hut and the urban parto of Machu pichu, so you will go to the viewpoint for the classic photo, it does not require much physical effort so it is ideal for children or older adults, also Will be allow to visit the lower area of the citadel.

This circuit gives you the option tu visit the lower part  of Machu picchu and the best view of Machu Picchu and its surroundings from the top of Wayna Picchu Mountain.

It has almost the same route but in this one you visit the Sacred Rock as it extends to the control where you start your hike to the Huayna Picchu mountain, a small trekking route from where you will have a spectacular view.

Considerations to keep in mind to your Machu Picchu Booking, UPDATE 2024

  • Tickets are NOT sold at the entrance to Machu Picchu. It would help if you bought them in advance, with no exceptions. You can reques tus by machupicchuperutravel@hotmail.com
  • You must purchase entrance tickets before traveling to the town. You could also buy online once you are there, but it is unlikely that you will find availability on such short notice.
  • You MUST present your printed ticket at the Machu Picchu (Machu Picchu Circuits) Archaeological Park entrance gate. Digital tickets are not accepted.
  • You MUST be at the entrance gate during the 15 minutes printed on the upper left corner of your ticket. Otherwise, you will not be allowed to enter.
