You will be transferred from the airport to our central office in Puerto Maldonado. At the office, you will need to pack only essentials for the next few days, while your main luggage will be securely stored. This helps ease transportation and keeps our boats and cargo light. We can provide a carry-on bag for your essentials.

We have our private port on the Tambopata River. Our journey will involve a 2 to 3-hour boat ride to the Sachavacayoc Farm. We can make wildlife observation stops along the way, although this might extend the travel time. Our private tours offer flexibility.

During the tour, you may see birds, alligators, capybaras, and monkeys if luck permits. We will enjoy a box lunch on the boat, with vegetarian or vegan options available upon request. You can also bring water to refill on the boat.

Upon arrival at Sachavacayoc Farm, you can rest and spend the night surrounded by the sounds of the Amazon. After a break, we’ll take a jungle walk to introduce you to the forest, and later, a night walk to seek out nocturnal creatures and insects like the large Tarantula.

Dinner will be served at Sachavacayoc Lodge.

We will visit the Macaw Clay Lick “El Chuncho,” the largest clay lick in the world, where the three primary macaw species and various parrots congregate. Hundreds of parrots gather to consume clay, a distinctive behavior of this area.

The tour will start early at 4 a.m., with a two-hour boat ride upriver on the Tambopata River. To fully appreciate the bird spectacle, it’s crucial to arrive before they do. During the tour, you’ll have a buffet breakfast while observing their natural activities.

On the way to the clay lick, we might see capybaras, caimans, and, if fortunate, jaguars or tapirs. We’ll spend time at the clay lick observing the macaws eating clay, depending on the season. Afterward, we’ll return to the lodge for lunch and some rest.

In the afternoon, we’ll visit the pristine Lago Condenado, about an hour from the lodge. At the lake, we might spot monkeys, caimans, hoatzins, and macaws, with a chance of seeing the elusive anaconda. We will explore the jungle by canoe and return to the lodge for a night walk to find wildlife or simply to enjoy the jungle’s varied ambiance.

After breakfast, we will visit the magnificent Sachavacayoc Lake located in the heart of the Tambopata Reserve. The lake is about a two-hour leisurely walk away, providing ample opportunity to observe nature.

At Sachavacayoc Lake, you may see spider monkeys, anacondas, giant otters, and, with a bit of luck, tapirs. This tour is a unique and memorable experience for many travelers.

Upon arrival mid-morning, we’ll take a rowboat to explore the surrounding wildlife. To maximize your enjoyment, a box lunch will be provided for a full day of exploration. If preferred, you may return to the lodge for lunch and additional time at the beautiful farm to relax and enjoy the amenities.

While navigating the river, you might also have the chance to see the impressive Amazon alligator in the evening before dinner.

After breakfast at Sachavacayoc Lodge, we will make our way back to Puerto Maldonado. The return trip will take approximately 2 hours, offering one last opportunity to view the flora and fauna along the riverbanks.

Upon arrival at our office in Puerto Maldonado, we will assist you with your flight, bus, or hotel transfer arrangements.

We booked the private Machu Picchu experience for two, including a private car transfer from Cusco to the train station, the Vistadome train, and a private guided tour of the site. It is certainly a premium-priced experience, but for such a once-in-a-lifetime destination, I would absolutely do it again.Everything was perfectly organized from start to finish. Communication with Tania was excellent throughout the booking process. She was always responsive and helpful, and even came to our hotel the day before to hand over all our tickets, explain the itinerary in detail, and answer all our questions. That personal touch was greatly appreciated. When we arrived at the train station, our guide, Willy, warmly welcomed us and stayed with us throughout the entire visit. He was incredibly friendly, professional, and knowledgeable, sharing fascinating insights into the history, culture, and significance of Machu Picchu. His English was excellent, making every explanation easy to understand. He also knew all the best photo spots and helped us capture some unforgettable memories. To top it off, he recommended a very good restaurant (not included in the price) for after our visit, which was the perfect end to the visit while waiting for the return transfer.Be prepared for a long day from Cusco—our day started at 5:00 a.m. and we returned around 8:30 p.m. Most of the time is spent on transportation, transfers, and waiting (each way is around 4 hours: car+train+bus), while the visit to Machu Picchu itself lasts around 2.5 hours (we had booked Circuit 1, which offers the best views although you are not able to enter the village itself (this would be circuit 2). However, every minute is absolutely worth it.A big thank you to Tania and especially to Willy for making this unforgettable experience so smooth and enjoyable. Highly recommended!

Wow, what great service! I’ve been on many tours and few have had the clarity and communication skills that Tania and her team had. From the moment I reached out in interest to the end of the Machu Picchu excursion, Tania was exceptionally clear and helpful, making every step very easy to follow. Planning Machu Picchu on your own is *technically* possible, but it takes a tremendous amount of work to plan with a lot of unknown variables. Booking a tour with Machu Picchu Peru Travel makes it easy for not much more cost, and eases the anxiety of all the unknowns with the complex journey. It is truly a great value for travelers. Now if only I could have Tania organize the rest of life…! :)

Inti Raymi was well executed and choreographed performance and ceremony. The tour company did excellent in communicating how to meet , what to bring , how to get in and how to exit. It is the type of festival you get to do once just to experience it. It was very crowded though , and everything takes forever to do (like to get to your seat). Plan at least 2 hours before and after the show.

It was a super fun experience. Glad I did it but wouldn’t need to do it a second time. Machu Picchu Peru Travel was impeccable as always though! Great lunch that quinoa bowl was delicious. Fresh fruit. They guided us through everything kept it organized Willy was great and Tania was amazing setting it all up. The value is a weird thing for me to review because it was super cool experience and would never do it without tickets but I didn’t understand a lot because the ceremony didn’t even let the Spanish translator go off most of the time and then the English translator spoke very low. But like the festival was dope and neat. Lots of amazing performers and costumes but sat there a little lost. Value for Machu Picchu Peru travel is priceless though.
