Moray (Altitude: 3,500 meters / 11,483 feet): Located 7 km from Maras, Moray boasts spectacular circular terraces of different sizes. These terraces served as experimental agricultural platforms and are believed to be centers of feminine energy, considered magnetic centers of Pachamama (Mother Earth).
Maras Salt Mines (Altitude: 3,380 meters / 11,089 feet): Situated northwest of the town of Maras, the salt mines consist of approximately 3,000 small wells. Salt has been harvested here since pre-Hispanic times using a system that involves evaporating saltwater from an underground stream in the sun. Once the water evaporates, the salt is ready for sale.
