Inti Raymi Tour 2027 Peru

The Inti Raymi Tour Package or Festival of the Sun was the most important celebration in the Inca Empire, dedicated to the Sun God “Inti” and celebrated every June 24th, 2027 in the city of Cusco, Peru.

The festivities traditionally included dances, music, and animal sacrifices as expressions of gratitude to the Sun God (Inti), seeking a bountiful harvest and blessings for the following year.

Surprisingly, this festival was once prohibited as it was considered “pagan.” Today, it gathers thousands of people and over 800 participants, including actors, dancers, and musicians in traditional attire. The event includes representations and praises held outside the temple of Qorikancha, in the Main Square of the city, and finally, in the Archaeological Park of Saqsayhuamán.

The Sacsayhuamán Ceremony represents the central part of the entire Inti Raymi. As the third and final stage—and the most important—it is celebrated at the summit of Sacsayhuamán, made up of gigantic rocks that until now remain a source of investigation and enigma. In this setting, the Inca and the coya (his wife) arrive to perform the symbolic sacrifice of the llama.

The ceremony continues with the beautiful dances interpreted by the Akllas del Sol (the chosen maidens of the Inca Empire) can be appreciated. The Inca pays homage to the Sun God (Inti Sun) through prayers for the well-being and prosperity of Tahuantinsuyo Empire, offering Cacred Chicha and coca leaves to Inti God. At the end, the Inca expresses his satisfaction with the ceremony, and the atmosphere becomes festive and glorious, with the hope that next year will be as well. (Lasts approximately 90 minutes). (Your Tour Include a spot on this scenery)

We begin with a pickup from your hotel at 10:15 to 10:45; to go to Sacsayhuaman and natural landscapes that are commonly used for the staging

Location of the Inti Raymi Stands

For 2026, the seating at Saqsayhuamán has been completely restructured into four distinct categories, each with its own viewing experience:

  • Inti Super VIP Stand (Orange): The most premium viewing zone at Saqsayhuamán, positioned directly facing the Ushnu (central stage) with a preferential viewing angle. This top-tier category includes a gift box and enhanced comfort — the first time VIP perks have been officially bundled into an Inti Raymi ticket. Capacity: 1,320 people.
  • Killa VIP Stand (Yellow): A high-quality seating option in the Yellow zone, offering excellent panoramic views of the ceremony at a more accessible price point than the Inti Super VIP. Capacity: 448 people.
  • Chaska Stand (Red): A premium seating area with great visibility of the ceremonial platform, ideal for travelers who want a close and comfortable vantage point. Capacity: 1,188 people.
  • Illapa Stand (Green): A spacious and affordable option that provides a great balance between visibility and value. This is also the only category at Saqsayhuamán that offers the national resident rate. Capacity: 810 people.

Each grandstand provides a unique perspective of the festivities. The Saqsayhuamán esplanade is an open, expansive venue, ensuring clear sightlines from every angle. Rest assured, no matter where you sit, you’ll witness the magic of Inti Raymi unfold in all its grandeur.

Daily Schedule

Itinerary

DAY 1

Inti Raymi Cusco Full day Tour

10:15 to 10:45 Bus Boarding

Our team will greet you from 10:15am to 10:45am at Plazoleta Santa Teresa (11,152 ft / 3,399 m) for check-in using your passport. Once registered you’ll hop on the Inti Raymi tour bus which takes about 45 minutes to reach Sacsayhuaman the Inca fortress where the ceremony kicks off. Staff will make sure everyone’s sorted before departure.

10:45 Bus Departure to Sacsayhuaman

The buses roll out sharp at 10:45am for the ride to Sacsayhuaman (12,139 ft / 3,700 m).

Don’t forget to grab a bite from the lunch box provided since there’s zero food stalls at the event.

Pro tip: pack water and sunscreen too—it’s a long day under the Andean sun.

11:30 to 12:30 Arrival & Seating in Sacsayhuaman

By 11:30am the bus pulls up to the venue. You’ll pass through security checkpoints and snag an Inti Raymi 2026 program booklet to get the lowdown on the rituals.

Our guide will help you find your assigned seats in the bleachers which offer a clear view of the main stage. Expect crowds but the setup is organized.

13:00 Inti Raymi Ceremony Starts

The ceremony start with the actor portraying Pachacutec the Inca emperor who symbolizes Inti’s power. Over 90 minutes you’ll see traditional dances, symbolic fires, and processions representing the four regions of the empire.

Though the dialogue’s in Quechua the visuals are mind-blowing and the booklet helps decode what’s going down.

15:00 Ending Inti Raymi Board Tour Bus

Once the show wraps up around 3pm staff will direct everyone back to the buses. Keep your program booklet handy if you want to revisit details later. Traffic near the site can get hectic so sticking with the group is key.

16:30 Arrival in Cusco

The bus drops you off at Plazoleta Santa Teresa by 4:30pm. Sometimes cops reroute traffic due to crowds so the final stop might switch to Limacpampa Plaza (11,155 ft / 3,400 m).

Either way you’ll be back in central Cusco ready to hit the road for dinner or rest. Note: Post-event delays happen occasionally but the team keeps things moving smoothly.

Inti Raymi was well executed and choreographed performance and ceremony. The tour company did excellent in communicating how to meet , what to bring , how to get in and how to exit. It is the type of festival you get to do once just to experience it. It was very crowded though , and everything takes forever to do (like to get to your seat). Plan at least 2 hours before and after the show.

It was a super fun experience. Glad I did it but wouldn’t need to do it a second time. Machu Picchu Peru Travel was impeccable as always though! Great lunch that quinoa bowl was delicious. Fresh fruit. They guided us through everything kept it organized Willy was great and Tania was amazing setting it all up. The value is a weird thing for me to review because it was super cool experience and would never do it without tickets but I didn’t understand a lot because the ceremony didn’t even let the Spanish translator go off most of the time and then the English translator spoke very low. But like the festival was dope and neat. Lots of amazing performers and costumes but sat there a little lost. Value for Machu Picchu Peru travel is priceless though.

We booked the private Machu Picchu experience for two, including a private car transfer from Cusco to the train station, the Vistadome train, and a private guided tour of the site. It is certainly a premium-priced experience, but for such a once-in-a-lifetime destination, I would absolutely do it again. Everything was perfectly organized from start to finish. Communication with Tania was excellent throughout the booking process. She was always responsive and helpful, and even came to our hotel the day before to hand over all our tickets, explain the itinerary in detail, and answer all our questions. That personal touch was greatly appreciated. When we arrived at the train station, our guide, Willy, warmly welcomed us and stayed with us throughout the entire visit. He was incredibly friendly, professional, and knowledgeable, sharing fascinating insights into the history, culture, and significance of Machu Picchu. His English was excellent, making every explanation easy to understand. He also knew all the best photo spots and helped us capture some unforgettable memories. To top it off, he recommended a very good restaurant (not included in the price) for after our visit, which was the perfect end to the visit while waiting for the return transfer. Be prepared for a long day from Cusco—our day started at 5:00 a.m. and we returned around 8:30 p.m. Most of the time is spent on transportation, transfers, and waiting (each way is around 4 hours: car+train+bus), while the visit to Machu Picchu itself lasts around 2.5 hours (we had booked Circuit 1, which offers the best views although you are not able to enter the village itself (this would be circuit 2). However, every minute is absolutely worth it. A big thank you to Tania and especially to Willy for making this unforgettable experience so smooth and enjoyable. Highly recommended!
