Day 4: Maras, Moray, and Salt Mines ATV Tour

Reception at Cusco - City Tour Cusco
Upon your morning arrival, you will be warmly greeted and transferred to your hotel in Cusco. To help acclimatize to the high altitude, you will be offered an aromatic coca tea, known for its properties to alleviate altitude sickness. Take this time to rest and relax, and we recommend having a light lunch either at your hotel or at one of the nearby restaurants.
At 1:00 PM, our city tour of Cusco will commence. We will start by visiting Qoricancha, also known as the Sun Temple, which showcases the impressive Inca stonework and architectural mastery. From there, The will take us to several significant archaeological sites, including the grand Sacsayhuaman Fortress, known for its colossal stone walls and panoramic views of Cusco. We will also explore Q’enko, an ancient ceremonial site, followed by a visit to Puka Pukara, a fortress believed to have served as a military control point. Our tour will conclude with a visit to Tambomachay, known as the Inca baths. The city tour is expected to end at approximately 6:00 PM.
After the tour, you will return to your hotel in Cusco for a relaxing evening and overnight stay. Take this time to immerse yourself in the rich history and vibrant culture of this captivating city.

Cusco - Sacred Valley - Aguas Calientes
At 8:00 AM, we will pick you up from your hotel to begin our full-day tour of the impressive Sacred Valley of the Incas. This tour will take you to visit renowned archaeological sites such as Pisaq and Ollantaytambo.
Our first stop is Pisaq, an archaeological zone where you will have the opportunity to appreciate remarkable constructions, including the imperial palace and its agricultural terraces (andeneria). After exploring the ruins, we will visit the vibrant market of Pisac. Here, you will have time to wander around, shop for unique souvenirs, and capture memorable photographs.
Next, we will proceed to Urubamba, a picturesque town in the heart of the Sacred Valley, where we will stop for lunch and enjoy delicious local cuisine.
Afterward, we will visit the Inca fortress and Citadel of Ollantaytambo. This impressive fortress was strategically built to guard the entrance of the Sacred Valley and protect it from potential invasions from tribes in the surrounding low jungle. To access the fortress, you will climb a series of stone terraces, ascending through long staircases.
The tour is expected to conclude around 4:00 PM at the Ollantaytambo station. From there, we will board the train that will take us to Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu town, where we will spend the night.

Machu Picchu full day Tour - Cusco
In the morning, enjoy an early breakfast at your hotel. At 7:00 AM Your guide will then meet you and accompany you to board the bus that will take you up to Machu Picchu. The bus ride is approximately 20 minutes and will transport you to the entrance of this historic sanctuary.
Local guided tour of Machu Picchu that lasts around 3 hours. Your knowledgeable guide will lead you through the ancient ruins, showcasing remarkable features such as the Temple of the Three Windows, the Solar Clock, and other significant structures. The specific sites you visit may vary depending on the type of entrance ticket you have for Machu Picchu.
(Optional) If you have made prior reservations, you will have the opportunity to explore another archaeological site called Huayna Picchu. This site requires a one-hour climb to reach, but it offers breathtaking views and a unique perspective of Machu Picchu. Please note that Huayna Picchu entrance tickets should be booked well in advance due to limited availability and the cost is $60 usd per person
After completing your visit to Machu Picchu, you will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes (also known as Machu Picchu town). In due time, you will board the train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo. From there, a bus will be waiting to transport you back to your hotel in Cusco.
The estimated time of arrival in Cusco is around 7:00 PM, allowing you to rest and reflect on the incredible experience you had at Machu Picchu.

Tour ATV Moray and Salineras
We will begin picking you up from your hotel at 7:00 AM. From there, we will proceed to the garage, where our guide will provide instructions on how to use the equipment for the day’s activities. You will have approximately 15 minutes to practice and familiarize yourself with the equipment.
Our first stop will be the fascinating tourist attractions in the area. We will visit Moray, an Agricultural Experimentation Center, known for its impressive concentric terraces that served as a testing ground for different crop varieties during the Inca era. This unique site offers captivating views and insights into ancient agricultural practices.
Next, we will visit the colonial village of Maras, known for its charming architecture and picturesque streets. From there, we will proceed to Salineras, where salt is still extracted for consumption and commercial purposes. The Salineras are a series of salt ponds that create a visually stunning landscape.
After exploring these captivating sites, we will make our way to the Chinchero market. Here, you will encounter a wide variety of textiles, including beautifully woven fabrics and traditional garments. Take some time to browse through the market and perhaps find unique souvenirs to bring back home.
By approximately 1:30 PM, we will conclude our tour and return you to your hotel in Cusco. You will have the rest of the day to relax and reflect on the enriching experiences of the day.

Humantay Lake Tour
At 4:00 a.m., we will begin picking you up from your hotel in Cusco. We will board our transportation and head northwest towards the town of Mollepata. During this journey, you will have the opportunity to witness the stunning Apurímac River valley.
Upon reaching Mollepata, we will have a delicious breakfast to fuel ourselves for the day’s adventure. From there, we will continue our journey to the town of Soraypampa, which sits at an altitude of 3,900 meters (12,795 feet) above sea level. After a short rest to acclimate, we will hike towards Humantay Lake, located at an altitude of 4,180 meters (13,714 feet) above sea level.
The ascent to Humantay Lake will take approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Once we reach the top, we will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the magnificent Humantay Lagoon and the imposing Salkantay Mountain. Our knowledgeable guide will provide explanations about the area, and you will have the opportunity to take memorable photos as souvenirs. You will also have some free time to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the surroundings.
Afterward, we will make our way back to our camp in Soraypampa, where we will enjoy a delicious lunch while marveling at the panoramic views of the snow-capped mountains. Finally, we will return to the city of Cusco, with an estimated arrival time of 5:30 PM.
