PALLAY PUNCHO 1 DAY
The day begins early with a 4:00 a.m. pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. The journey takes about two hours to Cusipata, where you’ll enjoy a hearty breakfast. Then, the trip continues to Sicuani and on to Layo, the gateway to Pallay Punchu.
At Layo, you’ll get a chance to explore the village and learn about its traditions before driving 30 minutes to the base of the mountain. From here, the trek begins—a 2.5-hour hike to reach Pallay Punchu’s stunning summit.
The mountain’s colors come from a mix of marine, lake, and river sediments, along with oxidation and erosion over centuries. These natural processes have created the vibrant stripes you’ll see today.
You’ll also get views of the nearby Langui Lake, adding to the mountain’s beauty. After exploring, you’ll head back down for a delicious lunch featuring local dishes like trout and alpaca.
By 6:30 p.m., you’ll return to Cusco, with amazing memories and photos in hand.

Circuit 1: The Panoramic Circuit
This circuit focuses on the agricultural sector and upper areas, providing access to vantage points and mountain hikes.
Route 1-A: Machu Picchu Mountain Route: Allows climbing Machu Picchu Mountain. The total maximum stay for the climb and a short visit to the Inca City afterward is 4 hours for the mountain and 1 hour for the city. Two time slots are available: 6:00-6:30 a.m. and 8:00-8:30 a.m.
Route 1-B: Upper Terrace Route: A shorter route through the agricultural sector. Max stay: 2 hours 30 minutes.
Route 1-C: Intipunku Gate Route: Leads to the Sun Gate (Intipunku). The round trip takes about 2 hours, followed by a maximum 2-hour stay in the city.
Route 1-D: Puente Inka Route: Leads to the Inca Bridge. The round trip takes about 1 hour, followed by a maximum 2-hour stay in the city.
Circuit 2: The Classic Circuit
This circuit includes both the agricultural and urban sectors, covering key areas for a comprehensive view.
Route 2-A: Designed Route & Route 2-B: Lower Terrace Route: Both are comprehensive routes that cover platforms near the Guardian’s House, the Quarry, the Temple of the Sun viewpoint, the Main Temple, Temple of the Three Windows, and the Sacred Rock. Visitors can choose to see the Hall of Mirrors or the Temple of the Condor near the end.
Max Stay:2 hours 30 minutes for both 2-A and 2-B.
Circuit 3: The Royal Circuit
This circuit focuses on the lower urban sector and provides access to the Waynapicchu area and its associated hikes.
Route 3-A: Waynapicchu Mountain Route: Allows climbing Waynapicchu Mountain. The total maximum stay for the climb is 3 hours, followed by a 1-hour stay in the city. Two time slots are available: 6:00-6:30 a.m. and 9:00-9:30 a.m.
Route 3-B: Designed Route: Includes the agricultural platforms, Water Sources, Temple of the Sun, and the Inka House. Visitors can see the Hall of Mirrors or the Temple of the Condor. Max stay: 2 hours 30 minutes.
Route 3-C: Grand Cave Route: Leads to the Grand Cave (Temple of the Moon) but does not allow ascent to the Waynapicchu summit. Max stay for the hike is 4 hours, followed by a 1-hour stay in the city.
Route 3-D: Huchuypicchu Route: Allows climbing Huchuypicchu Mountain (a smaller peak), but does not allow ascent to Waynapicchu or the Grand Cave. Max stay for the hike is 1 hour, followed by a 1 hour 30 minute stay in the city.

We had to squeeze Machu Picchu into the one day we had free on our trip. We flew into Cusco the night before and Tania arranged for an airport transfer. This was usd10 and we had the driver with our name on sign. Perfect and easy.
A colleague of Tania's then met us at the hotel to outline the tour the next day and give us our tickets. This was amazing and really appreciated the tips like what to wear, not to eat too much stodgy food due to altitude etc.
The tour was absolutely fantastic. A private car picked us up and took us the 1.5hours to the train station. He walked us to the train station entrance.
The train ride was awesome. We splurged foe the vistadome Observatory and it was so worth it to have the dancing and the band. Everyone in that train was up dancing and it was 9am 🤣. Willy our guide met us at the end of the train ride and caught the bus with us to MP. He spoke English really well and was so knowledgeable. A+ guide.
MP was epic. We did circuit 4 as 1 and 2 were available (we booked quite late) and we got amazing pictures and learnt lots from Willy. It was an easy 2 hour walk too.
Back down on the bus to the town Willy took us to a restaurant and we invited him to have lunch with us. The restaurant had a great view of the river below and the food was yum!
We had a 4.45pm train and to be honest we wish we had picked an earlier train (say around 2pm). We were exhausted and the town is pretty small so not much to do for 2 hours.
The train ride back was again really fun with the band, some dancers and everyone up dancing again.
The private driver met us at the station and took us back to the hotel. We then flew out the next morning.
All in all an absolutely fantastic tour and tour company. Tania is the most responsive tour person I have ever come across. She was SO helpful and I can't say enough good words about her.
