Overview

Tourism to Machu Picchu is booming. In the first two months of 2025, the Inca sanctuary welcomed over 191,000 visitors — a 16.7% jump compared to the same period in 2024, according to Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur). International visitors made up 63% of all arrivals, while domestic travelers accounted for the remaining 37%.

By the end of 2025, authorities confirmed the site had already surpassed 1.5 million annual visitors — matching pre-pandemic figures last seen in 2019. For travelers who have been waiting for the right moment, that moment has arrived.
