Schedule Tickets to Machu Picchu 2026

Planning a trip to Machu Picchu in 2026? The Peruvian Ministry of Culture has just released the official ticket sales calendar for the entire year. Tickets are selling out faster than ever (some January dates vanished in minutes!), so if you’re dreaming of this bucket-list wonder, now is the time to mark your calendar and prepare.

On November 17, 2025, the Ministry of Culture published the long-awaited Cronograma de Reservas y Pagos for entrance to the Llaqta Inka of Machu Picchu in 2026. This staggered release system helps prevent website crashes and gives travelers a fair shot at high-demand dates.

If you’re planning to visit Machu Picchu at any time during 2026 and you’re okay with choosing whatever dates are still available, you can buy your ticket on almost any day of the year — as long as the batch for that month has already been released.

Once a month’s tickets are on sale, they stay available (until they sell out). You don’t have to buy exactly on the “release day” if that day has already passed.

Current status as of November 20, 2025

Visit Month(s)When do tickets become available?Can I buy TODAY (Nov 20, 2025)?Comments
January 1–5, 2026Already on sale since Nov 17, 2025Yes ✅Some time slots already sold out
January 6–31, 2026From January 3, 2026 (8:00 a.m. Peru time)No – wait until Jan 3
February – December 2026From January 19, 2026 (8:00 a.m. Peru time)No – wait until Jan 19The BIG day! Almost the entire year opens up

Key takeaway for flexible travelers: Mark January 19, 2026 on your calendar. On that single day at 8:00 a.m. Peru time (GMT-5), tickets for August through December 2026 will go on sale, and any remaining tickets from February through July will also still be available. That means on January 19 you’ll suddenly have access to 11 months of dates to choose from!

  • Mandatory guided tour: You must enter with an official guide (groups max 10 people).
  • Timed entry slots: From 6 AM to 2–3 PM. Arrive on time – late entry may be denied.
  • 3 Main Circuits (10 routes total):
    • Circuit 1 (Panoramic): Best for views & photos from above.

    • Circuit 3 (Royal/Lower): Shorter route, good for Inca Trail arrivals or limited time.
  • Add-ons like Huayna Picchu, Machu Picchu Mountain, or Huchuy Picchu have very limited spots (200–400/day) – book these first!

Essential Tips for a Smooth Machu Picchu Visit

  • Acclimatize in Cusco (3,400m) for 2–3 days to avoid altitude sickness.
  • Train + bus combo: Book PeruRail or Inca Rail tickets early (especially Expedition or Vistadome).
  • What to bring: Passport (mandatory), rain jacket/poncho, sunscreen, water, snacks (no large bags or drones allowed).
  • Stay in Aguas Calientes the night before for the earliest entry and sunrise views.
  • Book everything together: Train, hotel, guide, and entrance ticket dates must align perfectly.
  • If tickets are sold out: Check daily for cancellations or consider a reputable authorized tour operator.

Machu Picchu remains one of the most magical places on Earth, but planning ahead is now more important than ever. Set your alarm for those release dates, grab your spot, and get ready for an unforgettable adventure in 2026!
