This ticket grants you access to the preferred seating section for Inti Raymi at Sacsayhuaman (approximately 3,701 meters or 12,142 feet). These seats are the closest to the stage, located just 10 meters or 32 feet away. Not only are they nearest to the action, but they are also considered the best seats for taking photographs as the sun will be behind you.
The Inti Raymi, or Festival of the Sun, is celebrated annually in Cusco (approximately 3,399 meters or 11,152 feet) on June 24th. Thousands of people gather to witness a stunning recreation of the Inca Empire’s most important festival, which celebrates the winter solstice and the harvest season, marking the start of the Sun’s New Year.
Inti Raymi is now the second-largest festival in South America, so booking your ticket well in advance is highly recommended. The week leading up to the main event is filled with celebrations, including concerts and street fairs.
9:00 AM Optional: Ceremony at Qorikancha
You have the option to independently attend the first Inti Raymi ceremony at Qorikancha. This part of the event is open to the public.
11:00 AM Optional: Ceremony at Cusco’s Plaza de Armas
You can also choose to independently go to the main square of Cusco to witness the second Inti Raymi ceremony, which is also open to the public.
11:30 AM Walk to the Inti Raymi Venue
You are responsible for getting to the Inti Raymi venue on your own. You must be at the Explanada Inti Raymi in Sacsayhuaman by 12:30 PM. Please note that all streets will be closed, so you will need to walk from the city center of Cusco, which is approximately 1.8 km or about a 40-minute walk.
12:30 PM Arrival at the Venue and Seating
You will go through the official entrance checkpoint. Upon entry, you will need to present your original passport or identification document, along with your entrance ticket, either printed or on your mobile phone.
1:00 PM Inti Raymi Begins!
The reenactment features the Inca ruler Pachacutec, the Inca during whose time the sun god (Inti) revealed his power and strength. Groups representing the four corners of the Inca Empire will participate with various ceremonies, dances, fire displays, and more. The ceremony lasts approximately 90 minutes and is performed in Quechua, but it is visually very impressive. You can follow along with the booklet provided to all attendees.
3:00 PM Walk Down to Cusco City Center
As soon as the ceremony concludes, you will be directed to exit the venue and walk back down to the city center of Cusco.
Transportation to the Inti Raymi venue is not included. You are responsible for arriving at the Explanada Inti Raymi in Sacsayhuaman by 12:30 PM on your own. All streets will be closed, requiring you to walk from the city center of Cusco, which is about 1.8 km or a 40-minute walk.
Due to road closures, you must be able to walk a minimum of 1.8 km or 40 minutes from the city center of Cusco to the Inti Raymi venue. After the event, you will also need to walk back to the city center of Cusco.
The Inti Raymi ticket is ONLY valid for June 24th.
