Por la mañana, lo recogeremos de su alojamiento aproximadamente a las 4:00 am. Comenzaremos el viaje de dos horas y media hacia el pueblo de Marcaconga, ubicado a una altitud de aproximadamente 11,800 pies (3,597 metros). Desde allí continuaremos hacia el distrito de Pitumarca, donde haremos una parada para desayunar.
Después del desayuno, regresaremos al automóvil para conducir treinta minutos más por un camino sin asfaltar en zigzag hasta llegar a Punta Carretera, situada a una altura de alrededor de 13,800 pies (4,206 metros).
