Huchuy Qosqo Trek 2 Days Adventure

We offer a 2-day hiking program through high Andean terrain to the quiet Huchuy Qosqo Inca City. Travelers follow a restored section of the original Inca trail network that once connected Cusco with this archaeological site. The route stays far from crowded paths and reaches a maximum elevation of approximately 4,230 m. All private oaths are handled by Kondor Path Tours vehicles with highly trained drivers.

Overview of the Experience

This 2-day Huchuy Qosqo trek combines nature, Andean culture, and Inca archaeology. The trail crosses open grassland, deep ravines, and small local communities. Difficulty remains moderate, with around 6 to 7 hours of walking each day. Views include snow-covered peaks, several mountain lagoons, and wide sections of the Sacred Valley.

Itinerary

DAY 1

Cusco - ccorao -patabamba

Departure from Cusco at 7:30 am in private transportation to the charming town of Ccorao.

We will start our trek from Pisaq (3600 masl) on the road leading from Cusco. The trail will take us through fields, crops, and villages until we reach the Abra de Patabamba (4100 masl). From there, we will descend towards the Andean community of Patabamba (3800 masl).

The walking time for this trek is approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes, with a moderate level of difficulty.

Upon arrival in the community of Patabamba, local families will warmly welcome us with traditional instruments, music, typical clothing, and flowers. They will also serve us a delicious lunch, showcasing their local cuisine.

After lunch, the families will guide us in collecting flowers and plants that they use to create natural dyes for their textiles. They will share the entire process of how they produce their beautiful weavings, which are renowned for their quality and intricate iconography depicting the community’s history and daily life.

For the overnight stay, we will have family accommodations specially prepared for our comfort.

(Note: This text has been improved for clarity and readability. However, please note that specific details such as the town of Ccorao may not be accurate as it is a fictional location

After enjoying our breakfast, we will begin our trek along the balcony of the Sacred Valley. The view from here is truly breathtaking, offering a magnificent panorama of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will be able to see the picturesque villages of Calca, Lamay, Coya, and Pisac, as well as the snow-capped peaks of La Verónica, Pitusiray, and Sawasiray.

Continuing our journey, we will pass through the community of Sihuas and make our way towards the Pukamarka site (4070 masl), where we will have a delicious lunch. This archaeological site holds historical significance and provides a fascinating glimpse into the ancient Inca civilization.

After lunch, we will begin our descent towards the Huchuy Qosqo archaeological park (3656 masl). The trail leads us through a spectacular canyon known as the “Punku Lion,” which features remnants of Inca bridges and an original Inca road. Along the way, you will encounter unique vegetation and impressive rock formations.

As we cross the canyon, be prepared to be captivated by incredible landscapes that will leave you in awe. The trail continues its descent until we reach the Huchuy Qosqo archaeological park. Here, we will have time to explore the ruins and soak in the magnificent views of the Sacred Valley, with its terraced fields and remarkable Andean architecture.

Our adventure concludes with the final descent to the town of Lamay, where transportation will be waiting to take us back to the city of Cusco.

We booked the private Machu Picchu experience for two, including a private car transfer from Cusco to the train station, the Vistadome train, and a private guided tour of the site. It is certainly a premium-priced experience, but for such a once-in-a-lifetime destination, I would absolutely do it again. Everything was perfectly organized from start to finish. Communication with Tania was excellent throughout the booking process. She was always responsive and helpful, and even came to our hotel the day before to hand over all our tickets, explain the itinerary in detail, and answer all our questions. That personal touch was greatly appreciated. When we arrived at the train station, our guide, Willy, warmly welcomed us and stayed with us throughout the entire visit. He was incredibly friendly, professional, and knowledgeable, sharing fascinating insights into the history, culture, and significance of Machu Picchu. His English was excellent, making every explanation easy to understand. He also knew all the best photo spots and helped us capture some unforgettable memories. To top it off, he recommended a very good restaurant (not included in the price) for after our visit, which was the perfect end to the visit while waiting for the return transfer. Be prepared for a long day from Cusco—our day started at 5:00 a.m. and we returned around 8:30 p.m. Most of the time is spent on transportation, transfers, and waiting (each way is around 4 hours: car+train+bus), while the visit to Machu Picchu itself lasts around 2.5 hours (we had booked Circuit 1, which offers the best views although you are not able to enter the village itself (this would be circuit 2). However, every minute is absolutely worth it. A big thank you to Tania and especially to Willy for making this unforgettable experience so smooth and enjoyable. Highly recommended!

Inti Raymi was well executed and choreographed performance and ceremony. The tour company did excellent in communicating how to meet , what to bring , how to get in and how to exit. It is the type of festival you get to do once just to experience it. It was very crowded though , and everything takes forever to do (like to get to your seat). Plan at least 2 hours before and after the show.

It was a super fun experience. Glad I did it but wouldn’t need to do it a second time. Machu Picchu Peru Travel was impeccable as always though! Great lunch that quinoa bowl was delicious. Fresh fruit. They guided us through everything kept it organized Willy was great and Tania was amazing setting it all up. The value is a weird thing for me to review because it was super cool experience and would never do it without tickets but I didn’t understand a lot because the ceremony didn’t even let the Spanish translator go off most of the time and then the English translator spoke very low. But like the festival was dope and neat. Lots of amazing performers and costumes but sat there a little lost. Value for Machu Picchu Peru travel is priceless though.

She was incredibly friendly, responsive, and helpful from the moment we started planning our trip.
