- 04:00 AM – 04:30 AM / 6:00 AM – 6:30 AM: Pickup from your hotel (around the historic center).
- Approx. 1 hour and 30 minutes: Head south of Cusco to the district of Cusipata.

- Continue on a dirt road: Arrival at the private property of Kayrahuire Alto – Bus Station (4450 m.a.s.l.).
- Kayrahuire Alto: The guide will provide instructions on how to operate the ATVs, followed by a practice session in a designated area (exclusive route for our vehicles).
- 50 minutes to 1 hour (round trip) – NO SPEEDING: ATV ride, enjoying the landscapes, the view of the Apu Ausangate snow-capped mountain, and local people in traditional clothing.
- Minutes from Rainbow Mountain: Leave the ATVs.
- 3 to 5-minute walk: Hike to reach the natural attraction.
- Approx. 40 minutes: Time to explore the Rainbow Mountain area.
- 30 minutes: ATV descent to the vehicle parking area.
- Boarding and return transport: Back to the restaurant in Cusipata.
- Cusipata: Lunch.
- Approx. 1 hour and 30 minutes: Return journey to the city of Cusco.
Itinerary
ATV Adventure to Rainbow Mountain
Your day will begin early with a pickup from your hotel (if it is located near the historic center of Cusco) between 4:00 AM and 4:30 AM, or between 6:00 AM and 6:30 AM.
Once we are all set, we will embark on a journey south of Cusco. After approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, we will arrive at the district of Cusipata, where a delicious breakfast will be waiting to recharge our energy.
With full stomachs and adventurous spirits, we will continue along a dirt road to the private property of Kayrahuire Alto, at an impressive 4450 m.a.s.l. This will be the starting point of our exciting ATV journey. Here, your guide will provide complete instructions on operating our ATVs, and you will have time to practice in a designated area. It is also important to note that we have an exclusive route for our vehicles, ensuring your safety and enjoyment.
The ATV ride will last approximately 50 minutes to 1 hour (round trip). During this journey, speed is secondary; the important thing is to enjoy the beautiful surrounding landscapes, the imposing view of the Apu Ausangate snow-capped mountain, and the opportunity to see local people in their traditional attire. Remember, speeding is prohibited to ensure a safe and pleasant experience for everyone!
At the end of the ATV ride, we will be just minutes from the majestic Rainbow Mountain. We will leave our vehicles and embark on a short 3 to 5-minute walk to reach this natural attraction. Once there, you will have approximately 40 minutes to explore and marvel at the palette of colors that nature has painted on this mountain.
The adventure doesn’t end here. We will descend on ATVs for about 30 more minutes to the vehicle parking area, where we will board our transport back to the restaurant in Cusipata. Here, a well-deserved lunch will be waiting for you to regain your strength.
Finally, we will begin the return journey to the city of Cusco, a trip that will last approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
- Thermal Clothing for the Cold: Mornings and evenings in the Andes can be very cold, especially at high altitudes. Dress in layers to adapt to temperature changes.
- Comfortable and Sturdy Trekking Shoes: You will need appropriate footwear for walking on uneven and possibly wet terrain. Good grip is essential.
- Rain Poncho or Waterproof Jacket: The weather in the Andes is unpredictable; rain can appear at any time, even in the dry season.
- Hat and Sunglasses: Solar radiation at this altitude is very strong. Protect your head and eyes from the sun.
- High-Factor Sunscreen: Apply it generously and frequently, even on cloudy days, to avoid sunburn.
- Personal Medications and for Altitude Sickness: If you take any specific medication, do not forget to bring it. Consider bringing pills for altitude sickness, such as Soroche pills or prescribed medication, if you are sensitive to altitude.
- Hydration and Additional Snacks: Although breakfast and lunch are included, bringing extra water and some energy snacks will help you stay hydrated and energized during the tour.
- External Battery for Devices: You won’t want to run out of battery on your phone or camera when capturing the stunning landscapes.
- Respect for the Natural Environment: Help us preserve the beauty of this unique place. Avoid leaving trash and follow the marked trails to protect the local flora and fauna.
