Itinerary
RECEPTION IN TAMBOPATA AIRPORT OR BUS STATION
Arrival and reception by our local guide or transfer at the airport or bus station.
Our guides are experienced professionals with a deep knowledge of the area and the Amazon rainforest; we provide a guide for each group of maximum 8 people.
Transfer from airport to our office in town. Upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado, our guide or transportation will welcome you and take you to our office in town.
At our office you will pack only what you need for the next few days; your main luggage will stay in our security deposit. This facilitates transportation and keeps our boats and the porter’s load light. If needed, we lend duffel bags at the office. We have a private port on the Tambopata River.
We will navigate the Amazon Tambopata River for about 2-3 hours until we reach Finca Sachavacayoc, with the time varying according to the stops to observe wildlife.
On the way, you may see birds, caimans, capybaras and monkeys if you are lucky. We offer a box lunch on the boat, with vegetarian options available, and cold bottled drinks.
Upon arrival at Finca Sachavacayoc, we will welcome you, assign you to your accommodations and give you some time to rest.
Afterwards, we will take a nature walk through the jungle and, at nightfall, we will go on a night walk to look for nocturnal creatures, such as the impressive tarantula.

CHUNCHO CLAY LICK VISIT
To start the day we will begin with a visit to one of the wonders of nature: the spectacular Chuncho clay lick, the largest in the world.
Here we can find 3 species of macaws that gather at the same time, along with many varieties of parrots.
Here we can see how hundreds of parrots gather to eat clay, a special and unique behavior that is only found in this part of the planet.
We will start the day at 4 a.m., and we will sail upriver on the Tambopata River for approximately 2 hours. To fully enjoy the spectacle of the parrots, it is important to arrive before the birds arrive.
We will enjoy breakfast on the boat as we go. During the trip to the clay lick, along the way we can see capybaras, caimans and, if we are lucky, jaguars or tapirs, two of the most interesting land mammals in the Amazon.
We will wait near the clay lick to see the first birds arrive. Then, we will return to the lodge to enjoy lunch. After a good rest, we will prepare to visit the pristine Condenado Lake, which is 1 hour from the lodge walking slowly and observing the surroundings.
The Condenado Lake is home to rich wildlife, such as monkeys, caimans, hoatzins and many macaws that fly to sleep.
If we are lucky we will be able to see the enigmatic anaconda that we are sure you have seen in many movies.
This tour has the characteristic that not many travelers visit it and we will have the possibility to visit it calmly, in the afternoon we will enter the Amazon jungle with total tranquility to observe monkeys and macaws.
When we return we will appreciate the nightlife in the Amazon jungle with an experience that we can consider creepy, romantic, intense, silent and noisy.
BREAK FAST AND DEPARTURE TO PUERTO MALDONADO
To start this last day of amazon tour, we will have our breakfast at the lodge and depart to Puerto Maldonado.
The return to Puerto Maldonado will take 2 hours. During this trip, we will also have the opportunity to view the wildlife that lives peacefully along the banks of the Amazon River.
Upon arrival at our office in the city, we will receive a briefing and orientation for our return transfer, either to the city or to the airport.
On this same day, you can do an additional activity: piranha fishing in authorized areas, an experience that we recommend.
