On the first day, you will be picked up at your hotel in Cusco at 7:00 am to begin a tour of the impressive Sacred Valley of the Incas, where you will enjoy music, dance and a guided tour to learn about local traditions.
After a delicious lunch prepared with natural products from the region, you will continue to Ollantaytambo to admire the Inca fortress and its spectacular views of the valley. Finally, you will board the train to Aguas Calientes to spend the night in a comfortable hotel.
On the second day, prepare for the experience of a lifetime as you visit the majestic Machu Picchu. Travel up by bus from Aguas Calientes and marvel at the panoramic views as your guide takes you through the secrets and wonders of the Inca citadel. You will see the temples, plazas and terraces, and have the opportunity to capture memorable photographs. This trip will not only connect you with Inca history and culture, but will also offer you a profound and enriching experience in one of the most impressive destinations in the world.
The Misminay Rural Community Experience tour to Machu Picchu begins at 7:00 am with a pick-up from your hotel in Cusco (11,152 feet / 3,400 meters). After a one-hour drive through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, you will arrive in the town of Chinchero (12,343 feet / 3,759 meters). Your guide will lead you around the local market and provide a tour of the archaeological site and the Colonial Temple.
At 10:00 am, the tour will proceed to the nearby community of Misminay (11,154 feet / 3,400 meters). There, the locals will offer a warm welcome with music and dance, followed by a tour of the town where you can learn about its customs and traditions.
At 12:00 pm, you will enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by your hosts using fresh local ingredients.
At 1:00 pm, the tour continues to Ollantaytambo (9,160 feet / 2,791 meters). Here, your guide will take you through the lively local markets and the renowned Inca fortress that towers above the town. The strategic location and architectural excellence of the site provide some of the most stunning views of the Sacred Valley. The intricate stonework and rich history of Ollantaytambo will offer a fascinating exploration of Inca heritage before the day’s tour concludes at the Ollantaytambo train station.
At 4:30 pm, you will board the train to Aguas Calientes (6,693 feet / 2,040 meters), where a transfer will be waiting to take you to your hotel for the night.
On this day, you’ll begin with breakfast at your hotel in Aguas Calientes (6,693 feet / 2,040 meters). Afterward, your guide will meet you at the reception and accompany you to the bus station, where you will board a tourist bus to Machu Picchu (7,970 feet / 2,430 meters).
The scenic journey from Aguas Calientes involves a 30-minute bus ride up the mountainside to the entrance of the Inca citadel. Once inside, you will embark on a 3-hour exploration of Machu Picchu’s rich history with your personal tour guide.
During your visit, you’ll see iconic sites such as the Temple of the Sun, the central plaza, and the terraced fields. You’ll also have plenty of opportunities to take stunning photographs from the panoramic viewpoint of Machu Picchu before descending the mountain.
After reuniting with your guide and taking the bus back to Aguas Calientes, you can opt to have lunch at one of the town’s many restaurants (optional extra) before boarding the train to Ollantaytambo (9,160 feet / 2,791 meters).

Please note that this will incur an additional cost of $70 USD per person and will involve an extra 2 hours of hiking. As a result, the return train to Cusco will be later, with an estimated arrival time of around 8:30 pm.
